Color Talk

ENABLES TWO PEOPLE TO COMMUNICATE THROUGH THE EXCHANGE OF AMBIENT COLOR REMOTELY.
Group project of 3 members, August 2017, Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology

A collaborative class project with Padma and Preeti, to explore technology for interactions beyond a screen.

Given the existing modes of communication like text messaging etc. we wondered what could possibly make an interaction more personal and intuitive between two people living at a distance. When you get a text message you see it as just words. You interpret the underlying tone by yourself. What if the message came with a colour associating to the emotion of the sender? We thought it’s interesting to explore the possibility of the use of colour to communicate. Thereby we came upon our idea to enable two people to communicate to one another through the exchange of ambient color remotely. The two participants require the technology that can be set within any object situated in their environment like a lampshade, clock, painting etc. which serves as a medium to communicate with colours. In times when it is not performing this function, it serves its inherent purpose.
